I am co-owner of Pit Properties Guide Service. I fell in love with waterfowl hunting at a young age when my dad would take my brothers and I duck hunting. The challenge of getting waterfowl to decoy right where you want them to is simply addicting. Being able to share the experience with friends and family is the icing on the cake.
When I am not chasing waterfowl I am either spending time with my wife Kaila and son Henry, or managing construction projects in Fargo-Moorhead.
I was fortunate to be able to grow up in the Fergus Falls area where there is an incredible Canada goose migration each fall. Over the years I have obsessed over learning more and more about decoying these birds. One thing I know is that Canada geese have changed, and they will continue to change their knowledge and habits. Each year is different, and I look forward to the challenge of decoying these birds for years to come.
I appreciate seeing hard work pay off and in the sport of goose hunting it definitely does. I take pride in providing a service that strives to get our hard working customers on safe, successful, and enjoyable hunts. I look forward to hunting with you.

I had my first waterfowl hunting experience with friends in high school. I have loved it ever since. I think there is no greater excitement then watching wary birds commit after they have circled your setup.
I’m a husband and father of 3 kids. I love being able to teach our little ones new things, and I look forward to the days when they can start hunting.
Over the last couple of years I have enjoyed learning about and working on waterfowl habitat. Whether it be creating nesting habitat for ducks in the spring or cutting down brush and mowing grass in the summer months for the next pit blind. We always seem to stay busy in the off season. I am going to continue working towards making Pit Properties hunts better each fall and during the off season i will spend my time creating habitat for ducks and geese. I enjoy seeing the waterfall populations thrive. I hope that one day the younger generation will get to experience waterfowl hunting like we do.

My passion for waterfowl started at 10 years old when I would tag along with my grandfather to hunt the daily flights of giant honkers and ducks out of Glendalough Park in Battle Lake. In high school I could usually be found on the water chasing ducks throughout the fall months. At the age of twenty my focus changed to hunting geese where I spent many years chasing the Minnesota giants.
I’ve had the pleasure of chasing birds all throughout the upper Midwest as well as Arkansas and Texas. I really can’t thank waterfowl hunting enough for the friendships I’ve made over the years and the experiences its afforded me.
Although I have been guiding since 2010 I feel like I’ve found a home at Pit Properties and cant begin to describe the friendships I have made and the extraordinary hunting opportunities that they have. I hope you’ll consider us for your future hunting trips as you will be hard pressed to find a more unique experience at a better value. Thanks for checking us out and I hope to see you next Fall!

I grew up in the Erhard hills of MN and was first exposed to waterfowl hunting at around age 6 with my dad and uncles. From that point forward, chasing ducks and geese on the backwater sloughs and farm ponds in my area was my favorite form of hunting. At 15 I started field hunting Fergus Falls and surrounding areas with friends and have been infatuated ever since.
I have also been lucky enough to enjoy waterfowl hunting in both North and South Dakota, Saskatchewan Canada, and the coastal waters and salt marshes of North Carolina while I was stationed there in the Marine Corps. I have too many favorites when it comes to waterfowl hunting, but time with friends new and old, good dog work, and getting to call birds in close rank at the top!
When I am not hunting, I own and operate a gun dog training business, as well as a drain service and maintenance company. I also judge and run dogs in hunt tests throughout the upper Midwest.
